In 2018 we joined the very successful Co-op Academies Trust. The Co-op offer an amazing opportunity for us to develop our school. The Co-op values give us a clear route to a very successful future, through co-operation we can all achieve great things. Our academy has eight classes including a Foundation One base. We build excellent relationships between children, staff and parents. We’re a happy, welcoming school at the centre of our community.

At Co-op Academy Portland, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Pupils are happy in school, and they get on well together. They value the warm welcome they receive from caring staff each morning. Pupils are polite and friendly. They understand that leaders and teachers expect them to behave well.

Pupils feel safe in school. They know that staff are ready to listen and support them if they have any worries or concerns. Leaders deal with bullying effectively. Pupils feel valued because staff take time to get to know them well.

I had a fantastic experience while delivering dance workshops at the Co-op Academy Portland. The children were all well-behaved and enthusiastic and the teachers were supportive and welcoming. The children’s performances were very impressive, and a great day was had by all. I look forward to returning to the school in the future.
