Welcome back from the Head

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you’ve had a lovely summer break and managed to soak up some sunshine with your
families. I’m thrilled to be welcoming everyone back for what promises to be a fantastic
school year - my first full academic year as Head of School, and I couldn’t be more excited!
A very warm welcome to all of our new starters in F1 and F2, as well as to the children
joining us in other year groups; we’re so pleased to have you with us. We’re also thinking of
our former Year 6 pupils as they start their journey at secondary school as well as some of
the pupils that have joined some new schools from other year groups - we hope they’ve had
a great start.
It’s been a busy summer here at school with lots of work being completed to improve the
environment even further. Over the next few weeks, we will have a play frame built on the
middle yard as well as a new outdoor classroom and some new equipment being installed
on the top yard. The building looks brilliant thanks to the hard work of our amazing staff, with
a special shout out to our site manager Dave Barker, and we're all ready to hit the ground
running.
We’re delighted to welcome two new Teaching Assistants to our team - Miss Kinsley-Smith
and Miss Wockenforth. They’ll be joining our brilliant support staff and getting to know the
children over the coming weeks.
We’re also really pleased to share that Mrs Hayes will now be taking on the role of SENCo
this year. She’ll be organising a SEND coffee morning soon to introduce herself and connect
with parents. Please keep an eye out for more information.
Looking ahead, we’ve got lots coming up already! Our Year 6 residential is only a few weeks
away. This will be a fantastic experience that’s set to be a highlight of the year and a real
opportunity for our Year 6 team to build relationships ahead of an incredibly busy and
important year. We’ll be holding an information session soon to share everything you need to
know.
Our after-school club offer will be sent out next week, along with a full list of key dates for the
year - this will include things like parents’ evenings, sports days, school discos and other
events, so that you can plan ahead with confidence.
In the coming days, you’ll also receive some important admin bits from us: permissions,
health care plan updates, and login details for various platforms. We’ll also send out our
updated home-school agreement, please do take a moment to read and sign it to confirm
your support.
PE days for this half-term are listed below. Children can come to school in their PE kits on
those days. Please refer to our uniform letter as all staff will be enforcing our uniform rules
and phone calls will be made to parents/carers as well as any identified items being
confiscated.
I can’t wait to get started and see all of the children’s smiling faces back in school. Thank
you, as always, for your continued support - here’s to a brilliant year together!
Important Message
From Thursday 4th September, parents/carers will be required to drop their children at the
gate (where Mrs Hall and Mr. Leathers will greet the children and receive any key messages
to pass on). No adults will be allowed on the playground as this has been causing some
children to become dysregulated and it has been difficult to keep them safe with so many
people entering and exiting the gates.
For children in F1 and F2, parents and carers can still
drop off at the door if they feel that this is necessary.
PE Days – Autumn 1
Children can wear their PE kits on the following days:
● F1 - Thursday
● F2 - Tuesday & Wednesday
● Year 1 – Monday & Friday
● Year 2 – Monday & Tuesday
● Year 3 – Monday Tuesday
● Year 4 – Thursday & Friday
● Year 5 – Wednesday & Friday
● Year 6 – Wednesday & Thursday
Warm regards,
Mr. Leathers
Head of School
