Our Town Hall Choir shines again!

Our Town Hall Choir loved playing their part on such a very special occasion.

THE MAYOR of Wirral praised a local country and folk singer as "the best of people" as he presented him with the "long overdue" Freedom of the Borough in a ceremony attended by Liverpool icons including Ricky Tomlinson and Jimmy McGovern.

Wirral Mayor, Cllr Brian Kenny, said country star Charlie Landsborough "thoroughly deserved" the highest civil honour - citing his humility and pride in being a Birkenhead resident – following the ceremony at Wallasey Town Hall on April 28th.

Wirral Mayor, Cllr Brian Kenny, said country star Charlie Landsborough "thoroughly deserved" the highest civil honour - citing his humility and pride in being a Birkenhead resident - following the ceremony at Wallasey Town Hall yesterday (April 28).

Charlie and his family were joined at the ceremony by guests such as Ricky Tomlinson, Stan Boardman, Billy Butler, Lady Ann Dodd and screenwriter, Jimmy McGovern, who trained as a teacher at the same time as Charlie.

As Charlie was a teacher at Portland for 14years, our Town Hall Choir were again asked to perform for everyone attending. They sang "This is me!" from The Greatest Showman and "Roar!" by Katy Perry, their final song was one written by Charlie Landsborough himself called, "My Forever Friend".

Alongside Mrs Smith and Mrs Tolcher the children were treated to a VIP room, some snacks before they performed and lots of photos with all the people there. The choir were amazing and everyone said how well they had done. Mrs Smith was very proud of them.
