HOME-SCHOOL AGREEMENT

At Co-op Academy Portland, we are committed to providing opportunities for all our children to achieve success in a caring, safe and stimulating environment.

Our Purpose

Our Home-School Agreement represents a partnership between home and school and declares our intention to provide the experiences and support necessary for children to realise their potential. At Co-op Academy Portland, we are committed to providing opportunities for all our children to achieve success in a caring, safe, and stimulating environment. Inclusion is one of our core values; we educate all children on the importance of diversity and ensure every individual is treated with dignity.

The School’s Commitment

As individual staff and as a whole school, we will do our best to:

• Maintain a Safe Environment: Provide a safe, well-ordered and caring environment where each child is valued as an individual.
• Promote Equality: Care for your child as a valued member of the school community, irrespective of race, gender or religion.
• Enforce Behaviour Standards: Provide a clearly stated, published Behaviour Policy detailing expectations, rewards and consequences.
• Zero Tolerance on Racism: Explicitly communicate that while all inappropriate language will be dealt with according to school policy, any form of racist language or behaviour is strictly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
• Educational Values: Actively educate children on inclusion as a core value to foster a culture of mutual respect.
• Academic Support: Provide a broad, balanced curriculum and set clear learning objectives and targets for your child.
• Communication: Report regularly on progress and inform parents at an early stage of any worries or concerns.

The Parents' / Guardians' Commitment

As Parents/Guardians, we will do our best to:

• Uphold School Standards: Support school policies, rules, the code of conduct and the school’s stance that inappropriate and racist language is fundamentally unacceptable in-line with British Values.
• Uniform Adherence: Ensure the school’s uniform code is strictly followed, including providing the necessary P.E. kit.
• Attendance and Punctuality: See that my child comes to school regularly and on time, informing the school on the first day of any absence and every following day.
• Community Integrity: Ensure we uphold the school's integrity by not misusing social media to post derogatory, inflammatory or abusive content.
• Engagement: Attend Parents' Evenings and support home learning activities, such as reading.

The Pupil’s Commitment

As a pupil, I will do my best to:

• Show Respect: Treat others as I would expect them to treat me, showing respect for all people regardless of their background.
• Use Appropriate Language: Understand that racist language is never allowed and that I must use kind and appropriate language at all times.
• Take Pride in Appearance: Follow the school uniform policy and take pride in my overall appearance.
• Be Prepared: First time, every time when following instructions from all staff.
• Work Hard: Show that I am willing to work to the best of my ability and hand in any home learning given, including reading, on time.
• Represent the School: Always behave well, remembering that I represent my family and my school both in the building and in the community.
